An exhibition simply titled “Raphael” will be on view from September 29, 2017, through January 7, 2018, at the Albertina, Vienna. An Italian painter and architect of High Renaissance, Raphael is taken into count with Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, together they form the trinity of great masters of that particular period.The exhibition will center on the most beautiful and prolific works of Raphael mainly composed on paper in cooperation with the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, home of the world’s largest and comprehensive collection of the artist’s drawings. Together both these museums hold a total of 140 of Raphael’s works on paper.
