Art Institute of Chicago presents “Master Drawings Unveiled: 25 Years of Major Acquisitions” a grand display of stunning artwork from the 17th to mid-20th century, on view till January 29, 2017. Many of these works have been purchased by the museum over the past 25 years and are being displayed for the first time. Arranged chronologically, the exhibition opens with masterpieces of the French school dating from the 17th century through Neoclassicism followed by works representing Swiss, German and Austrian Romanticism, midcentury Realism, and Belgian Symbolism. Highlights of the exhibition include an early beach landscape by Edgar Degas, a haunting self-portrait by Henri Fantin-Latour and a large preparatory drawing for the Art Institute painting Paris Street; Rainy Day by Gustave Caillebotte.The exhibition is on view at Galleries 124–127, 111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60603, United States.
