‘Hieronymus Bosch and His Pictorial World in the 16th and 17th Century’ at the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin

The Gemäldegalerie and the Kupferstichkabinett is hosting an exhibition “Hieronymus Bosch and His Pictorial World in the 16th and 17th Century” at the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin through February 19, 2017.The exhibition marks 500 years since the death of the iconic Flemish painter Hieronymus Bosch. It puts on display not only Bosch’s own works but also copies made from them as well as work by other artists inspired by his paintings, such Lucas Cranach the Elder,  Adriaen Brouwer, David Teniers the Younger, and Frans Francken the Younger. His famous triptych “The Temptation of St. Antony” will be shown in exhibition for the first time in 150 years as will over half of his surviving drawings that are held by the Kupferstichkabinett and considered to be the high-point of 15th century Flemish draftsmanship.‘Hieronymus Bosch and His Pictorial World in the 16th and 17th Century’ is on display at the Gemäldegalerie, Matthäikirchplatz, Berlin 10785, Germany.For details, visit: www.smb.museum/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peak of the exhibition
